Esther E. (Edwards) McClure

Esther E. McClure, 88, died Friday, November 22, 2024 in Salina.  She was born September 26, 1936 in Goodland, Kansas, the third child of Elmer and Lena (Lugesh) Edwards.

She was raised on a farm northwest of Goodland, going to a country school for her elementary education.  Esther then graduated from Goodland High School in 1954, continuing her education at Kansas State University where she received a degree in Home Economics.  

After graduation, she accepted a position as home economics agent in Republic County.  While working in Republic County, she met and married Michael McClure on July 25, 1959.  To this union two children were born, Kathleen and Susan.  After her children were in school Esther returned to the workforce as a social worker, a position she held for 27 years.  

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan; grandson, Kevin; brother, Dan; and sister, Roselyn.  She is survived by her husband, Michael of Salina; daughter, Kathleen of Auburn, Washington; granddaughter, Christine of Portland, Oregon; good friend, Deborah Nossaman of Salina; and special grandchild, Ares Nossaman of Salina.  

Following her wishes cremation was chosen with no funeral service.  A private family burial will take place at a later date.  

Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
