Harold "Hal" James Wagner, 85, of Salina, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021. He was born November 21, 1935 in Kingman, to Marvin DeWitt Wagner and Lela Maude Jackson. They moved to Athol, Kansas when he was young, and he attended a country grade school and high school. At the age of 15 he was following his dad with a load of cattle to take to market and that’s when he got the truck driver fever which he did for the next 64 years. He was a lifetime member of NRA and HOG group. He donated a Harley Motorcycle to the Marquette Motorcycle Museum.
On April 2, 1966, he met and married his wife Sharon Kay. They enjoyed several long vacations together. Surviving James is his wife Sharon “Kitten”, of 55 years; son, Bob Wagner (Suzi) of Snow Hill, NC; grandchildren, Drs. Nick Wagner (Ariel), of Natick, MA, Brice Wagner (Sadina), of Silver Springs, MD, Hannah Fuentes (Michael), of Stantonsburg, NC, Rachel Bertapelli (Joe), Lacy Setzer (Cody) and Jaquelyn Wostenberg (Darren); great-grandchildren, Adi, Ellie, Reuben, Maddox, Evelyn, Brayden, Jasper, Luka, Lillian, Nova; sister, Mary Jean Heater; nieces, Patty Underwood and Sandra Beach (Russ).
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Harold James “Jimmie” Wagner, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Ryan Grace.
He leaves many friends, church family members, fellow riders, and neighbors. Hal had a kind generous heart and was a devoted man of God. Daily hours of devotional reading and praying were constant companions. He will be greatly missed by his family. He loved sunrises and sunsets from his seat behind the wheel or from his front porch after his retirement.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 6, at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Garden in Wichita at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 7.
