Harry Hoffman Obituary

Harry J. Hoffman, 98, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026.  He was born on May 18, 1927 in Salina to Harrison and Sarah Irene (Linkletter) Hoffman. 

Harry was a lifelong resident of Salina.  In his younger years he worked at Holsum Bakery and operated Mobil and APCO gas stations.  He worked for over 30 years at the Salina Water Department retiring in 1989.  He also owned and operated Harry's Bait and Tackle along with his wife until 1985. In retirement he worked at Market Aide Advertising firm.  

He was Vice President of the Saline County Rod and Gun Club for many years.  
 
No matter how busy Harry was, he always found time for his hobbies including paint-by-number kits, puzzles, building doll houses, model planes and boats. He especially enjoyed traveling with family to Colorado and National Parks. He liked reading westerns, playing solitaire, and watching Gun Smoke. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Hoffman; daughter, Harriet Ann; son, Kyle Max Hoffman; brothers, Glen and Howard; sisters, Vivian Cassel Roof and Betty Mathews.

Harry is survived by his children, Bryce of Salina, Janice Gillberg (Dennis) of Salina, and Joyce Brunsell (Keith) of Lindsborg; grandchildren, Rachel (David) McCullick of Falun, Scott (Alison) Brunsell of Lindsborg, Kelsey (Nick) Miller of Canton,  Amanda (Travis) Swolensky of Salina, Eric (Regina) Gillberg of San Antonio, TX, Lester Gillberg of North Carolina, Donna Hiatt and Nichole Way of Branson, MO; great-grandchildren, Sara McCullick, Ayla Smith-Bolen, Conner Smith- Bolen, Ava Brunsell, August Brunsell, Emmi Brunsell, Lillie Brunsell, Kayci Kagle, Kyle (KJ) Kagle, Hunter Swolensky, Raeann Gillberg, Evan Gillberg, Kaison Gillberg, Rosalie Gillberg, Anders Gillberg, Crystal Hiatt, and George Gillberg. 

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Ryan Mortuary.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23rd at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
