Jeanette Weishaar Obituary

SALINA – Jeanette Weishaar, 84, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022.  She was born on April 4, 1937, on the family farm in New Almelo, KS to Aloysius and Marie Mindrup.  Jeanette was the youngest of 11 children.  She graduated high school from Leoville, KS in 1955, and worked as a nursing aide in surgery at the Thomas County Hospital in Colby, KS.  She met Robert Weishaar in Colby, and they were married on September 1, 1962.  They lived together in Colby and raised seven children.  When her youngest child was a year old, she started a daycare in her home and for the next 25 years, provided love and care for so many children in Colby. She was truly a mother to all.

Jeanette did her best to raise good, loving, and caring children.  Even though she gave wonderful gifts to her children at Christmas time, she expected nothing in return.  When her children would surprise her with a gift, she would often say, “Well, you rascals you.”  She will be dearly missed.

Jeanette is survived by her seven children; Kay Peppiatt of Salina, Kevin Weishaar, of Spring TX, Ken Weishaar of Salina, Sharon Stone of Tulsa, OK, Karen Liudahl of Chanute, KS, Sandra Denneler of Wichita, and Kurt Weishaar of Olathe.  Jeanette is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded by her loving husband in 2006.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina.  If you plan to attend the service in person, we ask that you please wear a mask.

Jeanette will be laid to rest next to her husband, Robert, at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Colby, at a later date.

For those with Covid concerns or difficulty traveling, the service will be webcast at http://www.livewebcastevents.com/jeanette/.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Puddle Duck Preschool, 520 W 5th Street, Colby, KS 67701. There was nothing Jeanette loved more than giving toys to children.
