John “Bounpheng” Phachanla

John “Bounpheng” Phachanla, 64, of Salina, KS, passed away on June 5, 2026. John was born on May 18, 1962, to Onsy Phachanla and Bouasy Phonthachack in Luang Prabang, Laos.

John received his GED from Salina Area Technical College. After receiving his GED, he continued in the Machine and Manufacturing program. After finishing the program, John began working at Waddles Manufacturing Co. – Innovators West. On December 31, 1984, John married Jennifer “No” Ounarom. John was a member of the Lao Buddhist Associates of Kansas in Wichita.

John enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports, cruising around Salina, walking his grand-dog, Heidi, spending time with his family and friends, and, most of all, fishing.

John was preceded in death by his father, Onsy Phachanla.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer “No” Phachanla; his mother, Bouasy Phachanla; his sisters, Manivanh Van Paschal; Douangchan Chan Keomysay; his brother Sisavath Eric Phachanla; and their children.

Visitation will be from 4–8 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina, Kansas. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Ryan Mortuary. After the service, a luncheon will be held at the home of John and Jennifer Phachanla.
