Joyce LaVonne (Hanson) Ades

Joyce LaVonne Ades (née Hanson), age 92, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Joyce was born in Dayton, Iowa, to William and Florence Hanson and grew up in Boxholm, Iowa, alongside her older sister Francis Borich and older brother William Hanson, Jr. She was married and had two daughters which she raised on her own. Joyce spent most of her adult life in Salina, Kansas, raising daughters Peggy Sue Hayes and Cindy Lea Bieker Resley. 

She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, serving the Salina community with dedication and care. She also found the time to help at the local United Methodist Church on camping trips with her daughters. 

Joyce had a lifelong love of animals. She was active in the dog show community as both a participant and judge and later developed a fondness for cats. In her retirement, she enjoyed playing the bells with the Charming Chimers, reading, and collecting glass baskets.

She is survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie Bieker of New York, NY, and Rachel Bieker of Bennington, KS, and her great-grandson, Ryan Bieker of Bennington, KS.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her daughters Peggy Sue and Cindy Lea. She is loved and remembered by those family and friends who remain. 

The family will hold a private memorial in Boxholm, Iowa at a later date.
