LeRoy Goppert Obituary

ASSARIA - LeRoy L. Goppert, 89, of Assaria Ks passed away February 27, 2021, He was born August 18, 1931.

LeRoy graduated Belleville High School, enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He married Lauren Snyder of St. Joseph, Mo., 1955. He later divorced and married Arlene Finch of Salina who shared his passion for gardening and spoiling their grandchildren.  

He was raised farming and continued at Belleville, Ks. He worked at Johnson's monument, Belleville and later Memorial Arts, Salina, and finally retired but as we all know the hard worker he was he couldn't help but continue working and worked for the city of Assaria. He took pride in everything he did; gardening, rebuilding antique tractors and vehicles, and fixing anything and everything.

LeRoy is survived by son, Larry Goppert of Glasco; daughter, Deanna Whitlock (Dennis Chipps) of St. Joseph, Mo; step-daughter Ruth Clifford (Dennis) of Lindsborg; Five grandchildren; Carlena Jeffrey (Brandon); "little" LeRoy Goppert; Jessica Moore (Glen); Step-Grandson Bryan Ringquist (Wendy); Many more Step children and grandchildren.  

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Anna; wife Arlene; brother, Arthur Goppert; son, Mitchell Goppert; Step-granddaughter, Melissa Fahey.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Ray Avenue Baptist Church.  Graveside will be 2 p.m. in Belleville City Cemetery at 2 p.m.
