Marian Elizabeth Larson

Marian Elizabeth Larson, 93, of Salina Kansas left us on September 10, 2022, following a 4-month illness. Marian is survived by her daughters Nancy Rectenwald of Salina, Sandra (Bill) Needle of Bonner Springs, grandson Brandon Rectenwald of Manhattan, a sister Jean Glenn of League City, Texas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Graham, and her parents Howard and Edna Barber.

Marian was born in Republic County, Kansas on a family farm where she inherited her parents’ values of work, responsibility, and concern for others. Marian graduated from Courtland High School and went on to attend Brown Mackie College in Salina. After completing Brown Mackie Marian went to work at Kansas Power and Light in Salina. After Nancy was born Marian became a full-time homemaker and devoted her life to her family and church. While working at KPL she met Graham Larson. Marian and Graham married in 1954 and enjoyed life together until Graham passed in 2012. They liked spending their winters in Texas, weekend afternoons at their farm, but their favorite activity was any time spent with their grandson Brandon.

Marian’s gentle and kind spirit made her a favorite with her family, friends, and caregivers. She was a blessing to us all.

A visitation and funeral service will be held in her honor at First United Methodist Church in Salina, Kansas on Saturday September 24, 2022. Visitation will be at 10 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Everyone is welcome – for those of you not able to attend in person the service will be available online. Memorials in honor of Marian may be made to First United Methodist Church of Salina, Kansas for the benefit of the Sewing Concerns and sent in care of Ryan Mortuary.
