Myrna Bartell Obituary

Myrna Lee (Kleinsorge)  Bartell, 81, passed away December 28, 2020 at Salina Regional Health Center. Myrna was born June 24, 1939 to Leo & Valaria (Mumm) Kleinsorge in Leoville, KS. The oldest of 9 Siblings, she grew up on a farm northwest of Selden, KS. Myrna graduated from Seldon High School in 1957 and began working at the hospital in Colby where she met Virgil Bartell. They were married June 27, 1959 and resided in Selden until moving to Salina in 1963. To this union were added four children, Don, Randy, Debbie and Mike.

Myrna worked in the food service industry, first at school systems and then working 25 years for St. John's Hospital. She loved camping and playing cards. Her biggest joys were her kids, grandkids and great-grand daughters. Myrna was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, the Ladies Guild and Good Sam's Camping Club.

Myrna is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Debbie. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Virgil Bartell; sons; Don Bartell (Nancy),  Wamego, Randy Bartell, Salina  and Mike Bartell, Hays; grandchildren, Lisa Njoroge (Jason),  Lawrence, Stetson Smith (Jordan), Salina, Erin  Rectenwald (Chris), Lawrence, Kailey Smith, Salina, and  Dakota Bartell (Kaylin), Manhattan and four great granddaughters.

A joint funeral service for Myrna and her husband Virgil will be held May 15, 2021 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with the Rosary at 10 a.m., and the Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild.
