Patricia Louise Pettle Hill, 92, was born in Salina, Kansas on May 23, 1932, to Helen (Magnuson) and Charles Edward Pettle.
She married Melvin L. Hill on September 21, 1951. They were married 48 years before his death in 1999. They raised two children, Dawn of Brownsville, Texas, and David (Kelley) of Columbia, South Carolina.
Pat and Mel lived in several places due to Mel’s work as a geologist. Most notably Centerville, Iowa, Amherst, New York and Lakewood, Colorado. Pat returned to Salina, Kansas in October of 2021 where she resided until her death on October 23, 2024.
She was active most of her life in the Methodist church. She held many positions in the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Eastern Star.
She leaves behind her children, brother Jerry (Sharon) Pettle, grandchildren Brian (Alex) Hill, Brittnee (Jonathan) Looney, and Brooke Hill; four great grandchildren Emery, Callahan, William, Andie and another due in November; several nieces and nephews and six first cousins.
A viewing will be held on Monday, Oct. 28, at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 122 North 8th Street, Salina, Kansas. Funeral service is at 11:00 am followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In honor of Pat’s memory, memorials may be made to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).
