Richard "Dick" Tews Obituary

Richard "Dick" Tews, 81, of New Cambria KS, passed away on March 01, 2024. Richard was preceded in death by his father and Mother, Ernest Tews and Eva Leona (Paul) Tews, second wife Wanda Tews, daughter Debbie Tews and stepson Stacey Gravatt.

Richard was born on April 11, 1942, in Hutchinson MN. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Hazel Albrecht-Tews of the home, brothers; Jerry Tews of Hutchinson, and Tom (Bev) Tews of Nicollet, and sister, Carol Nemitz of Hutchinson. Children: Mike (Tina) Tews of Lewiston, Idaho, Stepchildren Gail Albrecht of Salina KS, and Mark Albrecht of Raytown MO., two grandchildren, two Step Grandchildren, one great grandchild and one step great grandchild.

Richard graduated from Hutchinson MN High school in 1960 and then from Minneapolis Business College with an associate in business.

After college, he was offered a fulltime job with Gamble Robinson in which he moved nine times and was promoted to Assistant Branch Manager and then to Branch President. Richard moved to Salina, Kansas, in 1990 and stayed until the company moved out of Kansas. Richard proceeded to commute to Omaha, Nebraska, until he retired in February 2002, and he worked with the merchandising and finance department until his retirement. After his retirement from Gamble Robinson, Richard began working with City Wide Storage as a branch manager until he officially retired from working in 2020 with 18 years of service.

Richard’s hobbies included fishing, curling, traveling and was a dedicated member of the Salina AMBUCS.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, KS. Inurnment service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Christ Episcopal Church, in Ft. Thompson, SD.
