Shirleen Kay (Wittkopp) Maass

Shirleen Kay (Wittkopp) Maass, 76, of Salina, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 20, 2021.

Shirleen was born to Gilbert and Sarahnee Ailene (Bishop)Wittkopp on July 21, 1945, in El Reno, Oklahoma.  Shirleen was baptized April 2, 1947, at her Grandparents home in El Reno by Rev. A. C. Dubberstein.  She was confirmed on March 22, 1959,at Trinity Lutheran Church in El Reno by Rev. Carl F. Schmidt.  Her Confirmation verse was 2 Cor. 5:15 and song was “Thine Forever.” Shirleen attended Union City Public School for eight years and later graduated from El Reno High School in 1963.  After graduating from high school, Shirleen attended Southwestern State College, now known as Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1967.  After graduation she moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas to attend Mercy School of Medical Technology.  

Shirleen met the love of her life and married Delbert William Maass on August 1, 1969, at Trinity Lutheran Church in El Reno.  They had two children, William (Billy) Gilbert and Sarah Elizabeth.  

Shirleen retired from Cancer Care Associates now known as Mercy Care Oncology and Hematology in 2010.  After retirement, Shirleen enjoyed sewing, quilting, scrapbooking,cooking, was a member of the Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) Women’s Auxiliary; Charter, President and past member of Lamplighters LWML, past member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Midweek.  At the time of her death, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, KS.  Shirleen really enjoyed making beautiful handmade cards that she loved to send for family and friends.

Shirleen was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Sarahnee Wittkopp, her son William (Billy) Maass, and her loving husband Delbert Maass.  

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Maass, of the home, one niece, two nephews, and numerous great nieces nephews andgreat-great nieces and nephews.  

Services for Shirleen Kay Maass will be December 4, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okarche, Oklahoma.  In leu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Okarche OK; to the Center of Family Love Okarche, OK; or a charity of your choice.
