Tamara Yvonne Mayer (née King), 63, of Salina, passed into paradise Sunday, February 23, 2025. She was born August 26, 1961 in Lincoln, KS to Duane Clyde and Shirley Rae (Pierce) King. She graduated from Salina South High School in 1979. She loved fiercely and cared for many disabled children and adults. She cared for her nephew Blake for 12 years.
Tamara was a kind and compassionate soul who had an incredible ability to connect with people. She dedicated much of her time to working with the elderly and individuals with special needs, always offering warmth and understanding to those around her. Her greatest joy came from spending time with children, teaching them, and sharing in their discoveries. She had a thirst for knowledge and was always eager to learn something new.
Tamara’s infectious laugh and loving nature made her a cherished presence in the lives of many. She had a unique way of building relationships with everyone she met, making each person feel valued and special. Whether through laughter or heartfelt conversations, she left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
Her memory will be treasured by family and friends who were touched by her kindness and unwavering love. May the joy she brought to others continue to shine through those who knew her.
Survivors include her son, Shane Mayer (Rose Nichols); siblings, Deanna Johnson (Steve), Darla Warford, and Theresa Glassburn (Kyle); grandchildren, Nicholas Staggenborg, Mila Staggenborg, and Owen Staggenborg; nephews and nieces, Justin Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Jeremy Smith, Heather Williams, Crystal Inskeep, Amber Shuey, Ian Elder, Ashlynn Warford, TJ Virgason, Blake Glassburn and Kellie Glassburn; great nephews and nieces, Isabella, Electra, Natalie, Kaitlynn, Kylie, Kelsie, Kinsley, Alyssa, Alidia, Xander, Kyra and Morgan; great-great nieces and nephews, Brantley, Kalliope, and Kehlani.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Shirley King and sister, Debra Smith; brother, Robbie Hart.
Cremation was chosen and a service will be planned at a later date.
