Walter Klaus Suhr

Walter Klaus Suhr, 93, of Salina, was called to his eternal home Wednesday, July 28, 2021.  He was born to August and Margaret Suhr in Freiburg Elber, Germany, on December 10, 1927.

Walter grew up in West Germany during World War II where he worked in several different fields: farming, steel construction work, and submarine building. He met his true love, Ingrid, in 1953 and they were married on Nov. 27, 1954. She passed away in 2016.

Walter retired from his position as the production coordinator at Premier Pneumatics in 1993 and spent his retirement years traveling, camping, attending his grandkids sporting events, and spending time with family and friends. Although he was a quiet man, within that quietness was a strength that his family always knew they could count on. He was a jack of all trades, always tinkering away at something, whether it was building a house addition, creating beautiful metal art work, sewing beloved Christmas tree skirts, or baking cookies, he put hard work and love into everything he did. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him. A loving dad, grandpa, opa, and onkel, he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by;  son, Fred (Sara) Suhr, of McAllen Texas; daughters, Shirley (Randy) Rice, of Prosperity S.C., and Jennifer (Shannon) Luthi, of Solomon; grandchildren, Roxanne Suhr, Randi (Jamie) Smith,  Ethan, Emily and Evan Thompson, and Tristen (Marcus) Denham and Travis Luthi; great grandson Kalum Denham,  and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from Monday evening from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A celebration of his life will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, where he was a member.
