Hilda Rosella Englund, 99, Salina, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003. Mrs. Englund was born Hilda Rosella Swanson on Feb. 16, 1904, at Lincolnville. She was a homemaker and taught in Ottawa and Saline County schools. She attended the State Teachers College, receiving her life teacher's certificate in Hays City. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, WELA, Ruth Group and Friendship Club at the church. She also was active in Leisure Years Center, Salina. She married Roy E. Englund on Nov. 9, 1927, at Kipp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E., in 1972; a grandson, Richard Vernon Englund in 1959; three brothers, August Swanson, Arnold Swanson and Martin Swanson; and three sisters, Ellen Johnson, Alma Nichols and Ethel Mahoney. Survivors include a son, Vernon and wife Ada of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter Jean Persigehl and husband Marvin of Salina; a sister, Edith Muller of Salina; and four grandchildren, Karen S. Liljestrand of Kansas City, Mo., Kathy R. Englund of Overland Park, Donna J. Persigehl of Pleasanton, Calif., and David L. Persigehl of Smolan. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina, the Revs. Kent Happel and Ken Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
