Pre-Arrangements

When it comes to your final arrangements, shouldn't you make the decisions?  The arrangements you make will reflect your exact wishes and desires.  Pre-arranging your own service will help to ease the burden of your loved ones.  It will also alleviate any questions, problems or differences, which can occur among family members.

Pre-payment will protect you from the rising cost of prices, and it will not be a financial burden on your loved ones. When you plan ahead you know that your wishes will be fulfilled.

Arrangements can be made in the comfort of your own home by clicking the button below.  Fill in as much as you are comfortable with and we'd be pleased to meet with you to discuss further.  See the form below for details.

Why do people prearrange?
It is not a preoccupation with death; it is a good personal method to use in being prepared. Perhaps the best reason is TIME. You have the time you need to talk things over and ask questions. The time you need to make choices without undue stress.

  • To personalize your service and express definite ideas.
  • To protect against inflated future costs.
  • To stimulate family discussion, sharing, and decision making.
  • To provide for final expenses as a protected resource, even after extended medical care and within government regulations.
  • To produce a procedure that is not an unexpected burden to survivors.
  • For peace of mind.

Why have a ceremony?
Ceremony and ritual help us adjust to major life transitions: Baptisms, graduations, weddings, funerals - all are rites of passage.

A "service of worth" should represent a purposeful opportunity to reflect on the meaning of a life that has been lived and to determine the impact of that meaning for the family and friends. There is no single proper ceremony or service, It is a time for human sharing in its deepest sense and can create a meaningful experience for everyone.

What is advance funeral planning?
Most advance funeral planning can be divided into four main categories:

1. Complete individual profile information for various legal and practical needs that arise following death.

  • Vital statistics and obituary information
  • Names and addresses of survivors
  • Employment history
  • Memberships and activities

2. Make decisions about choice of ceremony or service.

  • Professional services
  • Transportation services
  • Burial or cremation preparation
  • Visitation and viewing facilities
  • Type of ceremony
  • Special motor equipment
  • Other service you may select (e.g. special music)

3. Select funeral merchandise and decide on type of disposition.

  • Casket or alternative container
  • Outer burial container (e.g. vault)
  • Cemetery location preference
  • Cremation container (e.g. urn)
  • Monument or grave marker
  • Other specifics to do with the direct needs of each particular family.

4. Consider the method of funding for the selected options. The different Ryan funding options include:

  • Self funded at the time of death with personal resources or make an assignment on a current life insurance policy.
  • Pay the current price into our Memorial Trust Plan funeral trust which guarantees the cost for selected services and merchandise.
  • Fund total cost with a whole life insurance policy from a selected life insurance company. Premium payment can be made over a three, five, or ten year period to fit your budget.

NOTE: Funds available in either Memorial Trust Plan or a selected whole life insurance policy can be TRANSFERRED to any funeral service provider at the time of death.

Advance arrangements should be reviewed periodically and updated as you feel necessary. Throughout the years, Ryan Mortuary and Crematory has offered advance planning as part of our services to the community. Those who complete this procedure find that it is one of the most thoughtful acts they can accomplish for the people they love. We will provide any additional information that you may request to complete your advance funeral arrangements.
