Mrs. Garwood was born Donnis L. Hileman on October 26, 1926 at Cuba, KS. She worked as a waitress at Mars Restaurant for nearly 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; three sons, Donald L. of Morganville, KS, Jerry D. of Salina, and Richard L. of Nacogdoches, TX; a daughter, Cindy Grover of Salina; a brother, Rex Hileman of Emporia; a sister, Retha Knox of Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
