| Donald L. Liepitz | October 2, 1931 - December 18, 2004 |
Donald L. Liepitz, 73, Salina, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004. Mr. Liepitz was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Vesper. He was a retired accountant for Simpson Oil Co., Salina. He was a graduate of Brown-Mackie College and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and DAV, all of Salina. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant first class in Korea and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Campaign Star and Purple Heart. He married Virginia Siemers on Oct. 7, 1956, in Vesper. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the home; two sons, Damon of Salina and Kevin of Houston; a daughter, Pamela Madrona and husband Al of Spanaway, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Damie Liepitz and Matthew and Markus Madrona. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Donald Hammerli officiating. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Vesper Cemetery, with military rites provided by American Legion Post 359 of Sylvan Grove. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. |
