Bertha J. Lundstrom, 87, Salina, died Monday, July 26, 2004. Miss Lundstrom was born Aug. 15, 1916, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was a graduate of Washington High School and Brown Mackie School of Business, both in Salina. She began her career as a bookkeeper for McKelvey Appliance and Furniture Store in Salina and then worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Planter's State Bank, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, where she had served as treasurer and taught Sunday school. She also was a member of Salina Credit Women's Club and Credit Women International. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Oliver and Velma Pearl Lundstrom; her stepfather, R.O. Jones; and three brothers, Fredrick Lundstrom, Herbert Lundstrom Jr. and Jack Lundstrom. Survivors include three nieces, Jackie Hudson of Wichita, Linda Wolke of Sedgwick and Barbara Jean Mendenhall of Henrietta, Okla.; three nephews, Russell Lundstrom of Wichita, Herbert Oliver Lundstrom III of Visalia, Calif., and William Lundstrom of Victorville, Calif.; two stepnieces, Fairy Louise Ham of Panama City, Fla., and Patricia K. Blobner of Fredonia, Wis.; and extended family, Yvonne Cope and husband Claudius of Joplin, Mo., and Brenda Valentine, Steven Cope and Tracey Elsten and spouses. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67041, the Rev. Glenn Davis officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. |
