LINDSBORG -- Carl Robert Rundquist, 81, Lindsborg, died Thursday, December 23, 2004. Mr. Rundquist was born on July 20, 1923 in Assaria, Kansas. He was the Manager of the Salina Credit Bureau from 1960 to 1972. During this time he started a credit counseling service. He was the Vice President of the Assaria State Bank from 1972 until he retired in 1986. He served on the Assaria State Bank Board of Directors for more than 30 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he had been a board member, church treasurer, and choir member. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946, during World War II. He was a Salina City Commissioner for eight years, Salina Mayor for two terms and a former Saline County Treasurer. He served as President of the Kansas Credit Bureau Association. He was the Charter President of the Assaria Lion's Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Salina Lion's Club and a member of the Salina Elks Club. He served as President of the Bethany Home Board of Directors from 1976 until 1991 and also served on the Executive Board of the Bethany Home Cottage Association. He was the Treasurer of the Lindsborg Stamp Club, and a member of the Service Core of Retired Executives. He married Charlotte Geraldine Fulton on May 23, 1944 in Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Arvid Rundquist and Teckla Amina Stone; and a son-in-law, Tom Downs in 2000. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Geraldine Rundquist of Lindsborg, two daughters, Eloise Downs and Cynthia Cox and husband Jim, all of Kansas City, MO; three brothers, Ralph Rundquist and wife Rena and Richard Rundquist and wife Lois, both of Assaria, KS and Harvey Rundquist of Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren, Kimberly Downs Gorombey, Dana Downs Kuritz, and Anna and Jonathan Cox; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Carly Gorombey. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Salina. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. The family suggests memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
