Mrs. Brown was born Helen Marie Smith on October 7, 1912 near Hoyt, Kansas. She was a rural school teacher and a homemaker.

Her husband, Rev. Harold B. Brown died in 1979.

Survivors include a son, Robert Brown and wife Beverly of Salina; a daughter Linda McCarty and husband H.D. of Derby; a brother Marvin Smith and wife Shirley of Topeka; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at the Salina Presbyterian Manor. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at the Hoyt Cemetery, Hoyt, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina Presbyterian Manor or Hospice of Salina.
