Robert J. Broce

Robert J. Broce, 95, Salina, died Friday, August 5, 2005.

Mr. Broce was born June 1, 1910 at Anthony. He was a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #60, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge all of Salina, the Union Pacific Jr. Old Timers, Kansas Crossroaders and the Sun Chasers. His hobbies included camping, fishing and gardening.

He was married to Esther L. Koeppen on January 19, 1932 at Attica.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther L. Broce, in 2004; a grandson, Kelly Broce, and six brothers and one sister.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Broce and wife Mary Ann of Salina, a daughter, Shirley Nofsinger and husband Don of Salina; two, sisters, Dolly Bowman of Winfield and Nelly Wallace of Anthony; six grandchildren, Michelle and Tyler Moore, Lori Upchurch, Beth Edwards, and Mark and John Houser; and 15 great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
