Mrs. Charles was born Susan Harriet Lemmons on May 21, 1917, in Hoxie. She was a homemaker and farm wife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Jacob Lemmons and the former Ora Gladys Turner; her husband, Raymond, in 1988; and a son, Raymond, in 1976.

Survivors include two sons, John Charles and wife Marcy of Gypsum and Gary Charles and wife Lorraine of Topeka; a daughter, Bobbie Donohue and husband Bill of Plymouth, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Donivan and husband Erland of Salina; a sister, Dorothy Snyder of Solomon; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.
