George J. Currie
August 25, 1931 - April 12, 2005

George J. Currie, 73, Salina, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005.

Mr. Currie was born Aug. 25, 1931, at Salina. He was a farmer/dairyman his entire life in the Kipp area. He was a former member of the Kipp Presbyterian Church, serving as a trustee and elder. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, serving as a trustee, and was in the church men’s chorus and chancel choir. He was a member of the Saline County Planning and Zoning Commission, a board member and chairman of the Farm Service Agency and a member of the Lindsborg Masonic Lodge and ISIS Shrine Temple Engineers.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Anna, of the home; two sons, Mike and wife Nikki of Gypsum and Curt and wife Tonya of Tomball, Texas; a daughter, Julie Hollis and husband Ken of Houston; and seven grandchildren, Thayne and Taylor Currie, Brooke Currie Dinkel, Anna, Jason and Sara Hollis and Sara Currie.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Neal, Salina. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the church, Hospice of Salina or Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
