Mr. Donaldson was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Fillmore, Ill. He was a tech sergeant for the U.S. Air Force, retiring with 20 years of service. He served in Vietnam, England and Canada. He then worked for Beech Aircraft from 1977 to 1984 and for Culver Grain Elevator until 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served on the Culver City Council. He married Patricia Ann Herrington on Sept. 19, 1961, at Fairbury, Neb. She died in 1998.

He also was preceded in death by a son, Donald Dean Donaldson, in 1970; and his father, Naaman Donaldson.

Survivors include a stepson, Dale Castillo and wife Janet of Culver; a stepdaughter, Debra Bechard and husband Bill of Culver; his mother, Nita Donaldson, of Litchfield, Ill.; a brother, Melvin Dale Donaldson and wife Gloria of Vinegrove, Ky., a sister, Winona Schweizer and husband Charles of Nokomis, Ill.; four grandchildren, Dayna Ann Bechard-Elliott and husband Travis, Deana May Bechard, Jason Dean Castillo and Kristina Marie Castillo; and a nephew, Kevin Williams.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Jorge Arvelo officiating. Burial will be in Culver Union Cemetery.
