Carl Bernard Holt

Carl Bernard Holt, 85, Salina, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005.

Mr. Holt was born June 15, 1920, in Jamestown. He owned and operated Unclaimed Freight, Salina.

He served in the European theater in World War II as a staff sergeant and received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon and two bronze service stars.

He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 588, Concordia, and 1432, Salina. He was past state commander of the Department of Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a life member of Salina Elks Lodge 718.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Aileen, Marie and Alberta; a daughter, Beverly Lamer; a granddaughter; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Survivors include a son, Carl of Kansas City, Mo.; four stepsons, Earle McRae of Buckeye, Ariz., Monte McRae of Wofford Heights, Calif., Karl McRae of Crestview, Ariz., and Louis Napier of Houston; a daughter, Pat Jordan of McPherson; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Sherman of Reading, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy J. Kenworthy of Webb City, Mo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 24 stepgrandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. Kent Happel officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina, with military honors presented by Salina VFW Post 1432.

Memorials may be made to Foundation for the Blind and American Heart Association.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
