Grace L. Vasey Crawford, 96, Salina, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006. She was born Grace L. Vasey on April 29, 1910, in Clay County to George A. Vasey and Blanche Ada Stewart Vasey, who both preceded her in death. She received her teaching degree from Emporia State Teacher’s College. She married Harold G. Crawford on May 15, 1936. She was a homemaker, taught in rural Clay County and worked as a secretary after moving to Salina. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina, where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the United Methodist women, member of the church choir for 47 years and a member of the consistory choir. She was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and the Salvation Army. She loved and studied music and sang in many high school productions and in civic quartets. She was also preceded in death by her husband, in 1984; two brothers, Ralph and Wallis; and a sister, Kathryn Vasey Morgan. Survivors include a son, Robert Crawford and wife Flo of Wichita; a daughter, Janet George and husband Warren of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, with burial following at 3:30 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Music Ministry. |
