Mrs. Jackson was born Doris Lee Shields on July 1, 1924, in Paris, Texas. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Jackson Sr., in 1997.

Survivors include a son, James L. Jackson Jr. of Salina; three daughters, Doris Jean Tebrugge and Spring Joy Hernandez, both of Salina, and Joan D. Keele of Tucumcari, N.M.; two brothers, Albert Shields of Lindsborg and William Shields of Clear Lake, Calif.; a sister, Faye Dudley of Hedville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Brookville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas or Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
