Dorothy B. Lewis, 96, Salina, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006. Mrs. Lewis was born Dorothy Jane Beverly on August 23, 1910 in Sylvan Grove, the daughter of John Edward and Effie V. (Wilcox) Beverly. Mrs. Lewis was an elementary school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Lewis, in 2003. Survivors include five nieces, Sonja Lockstrom of Overland Park, Kathy VanCampen of Hudson, N.Y., Mary Jean Hamm of Holmdel, N.J., Anita Ahlbert of Catskill, N.Y., and Beverly Ahlstedt of Chicago and a nephew Rolfe Peteren of Salina, and E. Alan Petersen and Natashia Petersen, great nephew and great-great niece, respectively, both of Assaria. Additional survivors include sister-in-law Catherine Giambalvo of Hudson, N.Y., Erika Alhbert and Nathaniel Alhbert, great niece and great nephew of Catskill, N.Y., and Stacy Douthit and Daniel Hamm, great niece and great nephew of Holmdel, N.J. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2006 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth in Salina. Memorial rites will be presented by the Harmony Chapter No. 2, Order of the Eastern Star, Salina. There will be no visitation. Private inurnment will follow the memorial service at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation or Grand Chapter of Kansas, Order of the Eastern Star, ESTRAL. |
