Mrs. Livengood was born Rita Cigrand on March 3, 1933, in Cascade, Iowa, to Nicholas and Louise Cigrand. She was a high school guidance counselor at Salina Central High School, retiring in 1996.

Survivors include her husband, Roy, of Salina; a stepson, Jeff Livengood and wife Regina of Larned; two stepdaughters, Julie Flack and husband Rick and Lisa Weis and husband Barry, all of Salina; a brother, Richard Cigrand of Monticello, Iowa; two sisters, Marion Cigrand and Jean Ann Cigrand, both of Cascade; four grandchildren, Jonathan Flack and wife Tara of Atlanta and Heather Flack, Ethan Weis and Hannah Weis, all of Salina; and four great-grandchildren, Allie, Tanner, Jade and Jacob.

A private family service will be held. Inurnment will be in Cascade.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina Public Library.
