Monsignor Raymond M. Menard

Monsignor Raymond M. Menard, 94, Salina, died Monday, November 27, 2006.

Monsignor Menard was born May 12, 1912, in Fulton, N.Y., to Herman T. and Josephine (Miner) Menard. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1939 in Syracuse, N.Y., and was elevated to the rank of monsignor in 1949. He was editor of the Northwest Kansas Register for more than 50 years. He also served as hospital chaplain at St. John’s Hospital in Salina for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Francis N. Menard and Joseph A. Menard; and a sister, Alice Veronica (Menard) Doud.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mary Menard and Ruth Menard.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, the Most Rev. Paul S. Coakley, bishop of Salina, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the cathedral.

Memorials may be made to the cathedral.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, and after 6 p.m. at the cathedral.
