Lawrence G. Saylor, 79, Salina, died Sunday, April 9, 2006. Mr. Saylor was born Lawrence Gray Saylor on Aug. 6, 1926, in Los Angeles. He was a sports writer for the Des Moines Register and Tribune from 1946 to 1952. He also worked in the steel building business most of his life. He was a past exalted ruler of Evergreen Elks Lodge 2363, a Mason and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence S. and Ardath (Gray) Saylor; a brother, Richard Saylor; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Bauman. Survivors include his wife, Helen, of Salina; a; son, Steven L. and wife Becky of Seymour, Mo.; a daughter, Patricia Lennox and husband James of Salina; a brother, James and wife Patti of Bella Vista, Ark.; a sister, Patricia Bauman of DeSoto, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Ethel Saylor of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CLC Salina or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association. There will be no visitation. |
