Mrs. Dent was born Opal I. Schwindt on May 6, 1929, in Saskatchewan, Canada. She was a counselor and structured living coordinator in the field of chemical dependency rehabilitation.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyde E., in 1998.

Survivors include a stepson, Darvin Dent of Brookville; a step-daughter, Lu Ann Watts of Brookville; three step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas.

There will be no visitation.
