Mr. Gawith was born on Jan. 24, 1929, in Miltonvale. He was a journeyman machinist.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean D. (Kent) Gawith; a son, Paul A.; a daughter, Melissa J. Gawith; and two brothers, Okla V. and Jake E.

Survivors include his wife, Marianne K.; four sons, Dr. Keith E. and wife Janice of Conway, S.C., Jeffrey A. and wife Barbara J. Phillips of Hesston, Victor H. and wife Marlene of Minneapolis, and Lorin K. and wife Amanda M. of Salina; four daughters, Susan A. Cooper and husband Randy of Minneapolis, Deborah J. Isbell of Salina, Karen Divilbiss and husband Jim of Solomon, and Michelle L. Muehlberg and husband William of Salina; two stepsons, Gary McNichols of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Craig McNichols of Salina; two brothers, LeRoy and wife Bette of Minneapolis and Kenneth and wife June of Pratt; three sisters, Delores Pachta and husband Raymond of Delphos, Jannie Johnson of Delphos, and Kathryn Paige and husband Bob of Delphos; 27 grandchildren, Janelle, Lindsey, Katie, Justin, Kristopher, Larry, Christen, Shawn, Tyson, Teri, Jessi, Marc, Matt, John, Amber, Jake, Mallory, Laurin, T.J., Maranda, Kara, Ashley, Willie, Caleb, Christian, Pamela and Amanda; 16 great-grandchildren, Miranda, Brent, Spencer, Piper, Kieran, Tyler Bryce, Hanna, Khira, Brett, Kelly, Cory, Emily, Morgan, Tyler, "Bump" and Jadon; and a great-great-grandchild, Zachoria.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in Delphos Cemetery, Delphos.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
