Mrs. Kopf was born Marita E. Pierce on April 4, 1923, to Allie C. and Myrtle E. (Creech) Pierce, in Troy, Mo. She was a dietary supervisor at St. John’s Hospital.

She married Laverne Leo Kopf on Dec. 31, 1940, in St. Louis. She was a member of Lost Chords Club and active in laryngectomy support groups throughout Kansas. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed china painting and ceramic creation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1984; and a brother, Floyd.

Survivors include two sons, Allen and wife Sue of Salina and Dale of Topeka; a daughter, Brenda O’Gorman and husband Bill Cotter of Salina; a sister: Frances Eileen Cox of Bridgeton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Michael, Sean, Chris, Michelle, Melanie, Carole, Michelle, Teresa and Teri; and three great-granddaughters, Caitlin, Lacy and Amy Jo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kerry Ninemire officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Brookville.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Memorials may be made to the church or Salina Emergency Aid-Food Bank.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
