Ralph C. Long

Ralph C. Long, 81, Salina, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007.

Mr. Long was born Ralph Clifford Long on August 18, 1925, in Leavenworth. He was the president of Long Oil Company Inc. of Salina for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan. He served as an Ensign in the U.S. navy during World War II in the China theater. He was a 55-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Salina, serving as deacon, elder, and trustee. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Isis Shrine, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Isis Shrine Band, Salina Royal Order of Jesters and Salina Elks Lodge. He loved to play bridge, write poetry and he is the author of one published book, Poems by Ralph.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa in 1973; and his parents, Earl and Ethelyn (Grant) Long.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Susie of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Fay and husband Tim of Inman; a son, Ross of Salina; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Eighth, Salina, the Rev. Andy Davis officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.

Memorials may be made to the Ralph C. Long Poetry Scholarship Fund, in care of the Salina Education Foundation, P.O. Box 797, Salina.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
