Mrs. Owen was born Violet E. Greig on Jan. 9, 1921, in Cawker City. She was a medical records consultant to nursing homes,and a Sunday School Teacher.

She was a member of the Jewell Rebbecca Lodge, AARP. Jewell Star Club and Extension Homemakers Unit. She had belonged to the Jewell Methodist Church.

She married Max Wayne Owen,Sr. on Dec. 25, 1937, in Glen Elder.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents, James Greig and the former Rosa Wood.

Survivors include a son, Wayne of Salina; a daughter, B. Aileen McCune of Newton; a brother, Clyde Tyrrell of Wichita; three sisters, Geraldine Kilpatrick of Omaha, Neb., Jessie Brokaw of Olathe and Frances Jackson of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Wallace Cemetery, near Jewell.

Memorials may be sent to Harry Hynes Hospice of Wichita or the Memorial Home of Moundridge.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
