Mrs. Smith was born Faith H. Huff on July 5, 1914, in Oronoque. She graduated from Salina High School in 1932 and Kansas Wesleyan University in 1936. She was a member of Gamma Delta Gamma sorority and the Valley View Methodist Church in Espanola, N.M. She also was a member of the KNEA, Salina NEA and was a Kansas Master Teacher. She was a special education instructor in Denver from 1957 to 1966 and then in Salina from 1966 to 1982 at Schilling and Heusner schools. She married J.P. Smith on June 1, 1936, in Salina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.P., in 1995; and a son, Steven Paul Smith, in 2006.

Survivors include a daughter, Deb Wall of Assaria; a son, J.D. Smith of Espanola; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 3, at Salina Mennonite Church, 600 W. State, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Kansas Wesleyan University or USD 305 Salina Education Foundation.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
