Gertrud Irene “Trudel” Hechtkoff, 90, of Salina, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008. She was born July 24, 1918, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Franz and Katharina Volk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hechtkoff; parents; brother, Eugen Volk; and sister, Hedwig Laible. Mrs. Hechtkoff was an active member of TREA Wives Club of the Retired Enlisted Association. She also loved to cook and crochet.
Survivors include her nephew, Hans-Jurgen Laible, and niece, Helga Laible. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in Fort Riley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina.
