Ora E. Kaufman

Ora E. Kaufman, 82, Salina, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008. She was born February 1, 1926, in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. She married Edward Kaufman on December 1, 1946, in Sylvan Grove, Kansas. She was a cook for more than 30 years, working at the K-18 Café in Lucas, Kansas, and later at Elmore’s Cafeteria and Presbyterian Manor, both in Salina. She had been a resident of Salina since 1983, moving from Lucas, Kansas. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, TOPS and the Jolly Mixers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kaufman, in 1981. She is survived by a daughter, Lori Carlson and husband Rogers of Salina; a son, David Kaufman and wife Jenny of Keller, Texas; two brothers, Oscar Wenthe of Salina and William Wenthe of Georgetown, Texas; a sister, Barbara Meitler of Sylvan Grove; two grandchildren, Sara Kaufman and Nathan Kaufman; and a great-grandchild, Elijah Marshall.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, with Revs. Robert Schaedel and Charles Adams officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Sylvan Grove Cemetery, Sylvan Grove, with Rev. Brian Tuma officiating. The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Hour or the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas 67401.
