Leroy May
October 29, 1950 - May 28, 2008

Leroy May, 57, Salina, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, doing what he loved, what he was good at, and what he was known for.Leroy was the youngest of six children born to Preston “Buck” and Ruby May, in Leonardville on October 29, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert May and James May.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Diann, of the home; five sons, Dean May, Riley, Steven May, Overbrook, Dustin Toner, Salina, Shane Holland, Topeka, and Dustin Lund, Clay Center; a daughter, Amanda Basye, Salina; two sisters, Darlene Huffman, Salina and Phyllis Nobel, Osage City; a brother, Don May, Spokane, Wash.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Leroy was hard-working, honest, dependable and could fix almost anything. If he couldn’t get it to work, it probably couldn’t be fixed. We will forever remember his smile, his laughter and the redness of his face when he laughed a little too hard. All those who knew him will miss him.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401, with the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials be made to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
