Virginia L. Bachofer, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at the Presbyterian Manor, Salina. Mrs. Bachofer was born Virginia Lee Parker on July 19, 1925, in Lincoln to James W. and Mollie V. (Kerns) Parker. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Smoky Valley Genealogical Historical Society, a former Girl Scout leader, and a volunteer researcher for both the Smoky Valley Genealogical Society and the Salina Public Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Bachofer Jr., in 1988; and a son, Joseph Andrew Bachofer, in 2006.She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Dube, of Thompsonville, Mich., Marilyn Vaupel, of Salina, and Judith True, of Cedar Park, Texas; a brother, David Parker, of Hastings, Neb.; a sister, Peggy Peterman, of Salina; and five grandchildren, Andrea Dube, Elizabeth Dube, Andrew Vaupel, Jennifer Vaupel and Ann True.The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ninth and Iron Avenue, Salina, with Father Allen Scheer celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A vigil/rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Cathedral and Smoky Valley Genealogical Society. |
