Weldon C. Hogan
March 29, 1926 - April 18, 2009

Weldon C. Hogan, 83, of Salina, died Saturday, April 18, 2009. He was born March 29, 1926, in Maryville, Mo., the son of Carroll John and Helen Margaret (Dempsey) Hogan. He married Cora Alice White on Aug. 29, 1948.

Weldon was a member of First Christian Church, Elks Lodge, American Legion and the Bowman's Club. Mr. Hogan loved to fly and was one of the first to receive his glider pilot's license to fly sailplanes.

Mr. Hogan was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State College, a corporate pilot for Morrison Grain, and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Hogan; and a grandson, Samuel Wiley.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; daughters, Gerry Logan and husband Peter, of San Jose, Calif., and Brenda Barnard and husband Bill, of Lincoln, Calif.; a brother, Kenneth Hogan, of Wathena; and two grandchildren, Jay Wiley and Daphne Nanga.

The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401, with Pastor Greg Rea officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Good Samaritan Home of Minneapolis or Alzheimer's Foundation and may be sent to or left in care of the mortuary.
