Dale Harrison Iliff
November 22, 1918 - January 8, 2009

Dale Harrison Iliff, 90, of Salina, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at his home. Dale was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Abilene, the son of John Harrison Iliff and Eliza Edna Broadfoot Iliff. He had worked for Holsum & Wonder Bakeries starting in sales and later retiring as branch manager. He was an H&R Block tax preparer for 20 years. Dale was a first sergeant in the U.S. Army and a member of the 70th Reconnaisance Troop from 1943 to 1946 serving in French and German Theaters. He participated in the troop’s retirement functions for over 40 years. He was a life member of Salina VFW Post No. 1432.

Dale married Virginia Alice Cumbow on June 3, 1940, in Salina. They celebrate 68 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; a son-in-law, Jim Anderson; and a grandson, Timothy Alan Klocek.

He is survived by his spouse, Virginia, of the home; three daughters, Jennie Uhler and spouse Bil, of Topeka, Barbara Anderson, of Salina, and Mary Weigel and spouse Don, of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Bill Uhler, Tom Klocek, Tamara Prochazka, David Uhler, Lesley Weigel, Derek Weigel and Jeff Weigel; and eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey Adams, Brianna Klocek, Thomas Uhler, Margaret Uhler, Michael Uhler, Alexa Weigel, Ashley Prochazka, Jenna Prochazka and Cody Dale Klocek.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery with military honors presented by Salina VFW Post No. 1432. Memorials are suggested to Salina VFW Post No. 1432.
