Lola attended the rural Naomi School and graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1939. She was active in Excelsior 4-H club. She worked at the Farmer’s Union Grocery before and after graduating, and later moved to Smith Center where she worked at Metz Packing Plant.

Lola married Leland C. Jones, July 21 1944, and went with him to Hattiesburg, Miss., where they lived until his 69th Division was deployed overseas.

During those years, she returned to Beloit, Kansas, and worked at J.C. Penney’s, Duckwall’s, Mitchell County Extension Office and S & S Drug Store.

After Leland returned from the service they farmed a few years before moving to Salina in 1950. She worked as a bookkeeper for Rhea Construction for 18 1/2 years, before moving to La Vista, Neb., returning to Salina in 1983.

Lola was a member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women’s group. She enjoyed coordinating Bingo activities at Shalimar nursing home over a period of years. She was involved in various volunteer works through the years.

She loved her home, thoughts of others, her flowers, crafts and busy hands.

She is survived by her husband, Leland; her sister, Pauline Stouffer, Beloit; nephews, Eldon and Gladys Stouffer, Salina; David and Janice Stouffer, Assaira; James and Dorislea Stouffer, Hays; Ronald and Marcia Stouffer, West Plains, MO; Leslie and Kay Babcock, Tonganoxie; and a neice, Vicki and David Fugget, Lawrence; and many great nephews and nieces.

Graveside inurnment will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Roselawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit. There will be no visitation.
