Ruth Emma Marshall, 97, of Salina, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009. She was born March 23, 1912, in Moundridge. The daughter of Charles M. and Ella M. (Miller) Shaw, she lived most of her life in Salina, where she was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for the J.C. Penney department store. On July 3, 1929, Ruth married James T. Marshall in Abilene. Ruth was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, the Eagles Auxiliary for over 40 years, O.E.S. and the Social Order of the Beauceant. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James T. Marshall, in 1974; son, Charles R. Marshall, in 2002; and a grandson, Alfred T. Marshall, in 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia R. Marshall, of Salina, and Barbara K. Wire and husband Ted, of Silvis, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Joyce A. Marshall, of Marana, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation with casual attire will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, with the Rev. Brenda Stalbaum-Martin officiating. Memorials are suggested to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church or Hospice of Salina. |
