Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin VanMeter; a brother, Wayne Burch; and a sister, Esther VanMeter. Survivors include a son, Lynn VanMeter, of Gypsum; three sisters, Geraldine Bender, of Boise, Idaho, and Doris Hancock and Eula Spellman, both of Gypsum; three grandchildren, Sean, Valerie and Melanie; and three great-grandchildren, Darian, Ian and Dakotah.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the mortuary, with burial in Gypsum Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
